Farm Bill Lobbying Interests

Data processed by The Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting

Design by Acton Gorton

In a joint analysis of the 2014 farm bill and the lobbying groups behind it, The Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting and Harvest Public Media found at least 600 companies that listed the Farm Bill or some part of it on federal lobbying disclosure reports filed between 2012 and the early part of 2014.

Collectively, these companies spent an estimated $500 million in total lobbying costs.

While it’s not clear how much of that money was spent specifically lobbying on the farm bill, it is clear that hundreds of outside groups and companies tried to influence the nation’s food and agriculture policy.
